The weather is getting warmer and we all have the urge to frolic in nature but those darn allergies are kicking up! What causes seasonal allergies?

Activated charcoal has been used for thousands of years to cleanse and detoxify the body. Whats the difference between charcoal and activated charcoal? Well, they are almost identical – the only difference is that activated charcoal has been created solely for medicinal use. Activated charcoal is heated with a gas that causes the charcoal to expand, creating a porous surface that traps toxins.

Naturopathic doctors are a rare breed of physicians that have deeply thought about those questions and created a model of medicine that integrates nature, values connection, and combines it with the standard of care.
Most people have never heard of a naturopathic physician (ND) simply because there are only 5,000 ND's practicing around the U.S while there are well over 200,000 primary care MD's in the U.S (and over 700,000 total).

Lately, I can't get enough of my propolis facial spray! Propolis is seriously my new secret to glowing skin. So what it is? ...Propolis is a strong resinous substance from plants, used by bees for sealing hives. You can find sources of Propolis in various regions including Brazil, Australia, Europe, the United States and China.
My personal favorite is the Brazilian Green Propolis, collected from Brazil Minas Gerais. This region is home to a unique plant species (Baccharis dracunculifolia) which produces the best grade of propolis with the highest level of flavonoids and Arterpillin-C. The Green Propolis extract is special and the most desirable type because it contains over 70 compounds and about 30 of them have been already patented to be used in medicine for health benefits!
Propolis is very soothing when applied to the skin and has been shown to reduce inflammation, purify the skin, encourage tissue repair & regeneration, and fight acne.
These yellow and black buzzers have a huge job to do in our eco system and they certainly don’t get the appreciation they deserve. Beans, tomatoes, onions, carrots, and hundreds of other fruits and vegetables depend upon these hard workers for pollination. Not to mention that I haven’t even begun to talk about how they help us too!
Bee Pollen: this is made from honeybees and is actually the food of a young bee. It is a very nourishing food for humans too and it contains protein, amino acids, B vitamins and folic acid. Let’s not forget that just one teaspoon of pollen takes one bee who works 8 hours a day an entire month to collect! The pollen has been shown to increase energy, boost the immune system, reduce histamine levels, and treats infertility.
Royal Jelly: this is made from a secretion of the honey bees that is used to deliver nutrition to larvae and adult queen bees. This jelly has been shown to increase collagen production, treat Graves disease, improve fertility, lower cholesterol, and even fight bacteria.
Honey: this sweet snack naturally contains 18 amino acids, plus small amounts of many vitamins and minerals. It is a great alternative to sugar since it has been shown to increase athletic performance, decrease allergies, moisturizes skin, and has antibacterial properties!
Papaya is loaded with wonderful antioxidants and enzymes that will exfoliate your skin and give you a healthy vibrant glow
Seriously, the most effective beauty treatments are located in the produce department of your local grocery store! A special enzyme in papaya called papain acts as an exfoliation agent which breaks down the surface of dead skin cells giving you super smooth skin. Honey has antibacterial properties which can help fight acne while reducing inflammation and providing moisture for the skin. The lemon is a great addition because it helps to brighten skin while adding collagen building vitamin C.
Give it a try... and you can eat any of the delish leftovers
Blend 1 papaya (make sure it's peeled with no seeds) with 1 tablespoon honey and a hint of lemon.
Apply to face and leave it on for 20 minutes
Rinse and Glow!
Whether you realize it or not, stress plays a huge role in your health! The stresses in life have changed dramatically over the centuries but our response still remains the same. Cortisol is a stress hormone that is secreted by the adrenal cortex that helps our body cope with stress by mobilizing stored energy sources and increasing the availability of substances for tissue repairs. Cortisol can be very helpful in the short-term but chronic stress (overexposure to cortisol) can disrupt many of your body's processes and increase risk for anxiety, depression, weight gain, insomnia, and digestive problems.
Below is a graph showing the normal cycle of cortisol and melatonin. (red = cortisol and blue= melatonin. Someone who is experiencing chronic stress this graph could look very different with cortisol increasing in the evening causing insomnia or decreased in the morning causing fatigue.
So, how can we get back into balance?
A very powerful way to decrease stress and improve energy is through diaphragmatic breathing exercises
Eliminate caffeine and alcohol
Adrenal Supportive Herbs (like Panax ginseng or Eleutherococcus senticosus)
At-home constitutional hydrotherapy is a simple way to build immunity while pushing your body from the ultra stressed sympathetic (fight or flight) mode into the calmer parasympathetic (rest and digest) mode.
How does it do this? the hot and cold is focused on the torso which shunts the blood from the extremities to the abdomen creating more attention on digestion.
What you need:
Try it !
1. Take a hot bath or shower for 5 minutes.
2. Get out and dry quickly.
3. Take a towel wrung out in cold water and wrap it around the trunk of the body, from the armpits to the groin.
4. Cover with the sheet and then 2 wool blankets.
5. Leave in place at least 20 minutes, or longer, until the towel is warmed.
After the treatment you will find yourself more relaxed and vibrant!
You don't need to go to a spa to get a amazing facial... simply open up your fridge!
Strawberries are rich in alpha-hydroxy acids which helps to slough off dead skin cells giving the skin a beautiful glow. They also contain salicylic acid which can help acne-prone skin while toning and smoothing the skin. Simply cut the strawberry in half, rub in on the face and rinse!
Kiwis contain large amounts of vitamin C which is essential for collagen building while also containing vitamin E for optimal skin smoothing and moisture. This wonderful fruit is loaded with antioxidants. You can even use the peel of the fruit which contains enzymes that support exfoliation. Peel the kiwi fruit and scrub the skin with the inside of the peel to attain smooth and flawless skin.
Bananas are rich in vitamins and antioxidants which soothe the skin while gently exfoliating it. Simply mash a banana and apply directly to the skin, leave on for 1 minutes and wash off. The banana peel also contains properties that help to soothe irritated skin. rub the banana peel over the skin and leave the remnants on the skin for 15 minutes then wash off.
