Summer is here and it's time to show a little extra skin! The healthyfashionista's guide to naturally perfect skin provides a resource for most skin issues that women face from hormonal imbalances, acne, sun damaged skin, and overall support so you can feel confident rocking your summer gear.
Rose Hip Seed Oil: These seeds are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. It has long been regarded as the natural alternative to Retin-A because it’s properties that regenerate new skin cells. The oil contains large amounts of vitamin A and retinoic acid which have been proven to reduce fine wrinkles, improve pigmentation, and the texture of skin. When the oil is applied topically to the skin it then acts on the cell membranes and supports the keratin migration cycle to enable a faster rate of skin cells to regenerate. This oil is great for sun damaged skin, maturing skin, or simply as a great moisturizer.
Burdock Root: This root has been shown to help clear skin. It supports the detoxification process, increases blood circulation to epidermal tissues and also destroys bacteria and fungus present in the skin. It also contains vitamin C which will help to maintain a youthful look
Milk Thistle: Glowing skin always begins with healthy liver function and milk thistle is a great plant to support overall liver health. This seed is a potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and has been proven to repair and grow new liver cells.
Vitex: Works on normalizing progesterone levels in the body through the endocrine system. Progesterone is a female sex hormone that can sometimes be unbalanced causing symptoms like PMS and acne when estrogen levels are too high. Clinical research has shown that vitex can start correcting imbalances as soon as 10 days but, to see a full benefit it usually takes about 3 months to rebalance the body.
Avocado Body Scrub: Mash 1 avocado and mix with 2 Tbsp cornmeal and rub on body. This is a very cleansing and softening scrub.
Milk & Honey Lotion: melt some honey and add equal amounts of almond milk. Honey is a humectant in that it draws moisture out of the air so it is within reach of your pores. Apply the milk and honey to your face, massage gently, and rinse off.
