I've often pondered this idea because many people think they're mutually exclusive. I have surely been guilty of this in the past; when life starts to get overloaded with work and responsibilities, eating healthy gets pushed to the side. The irony is that quality nutrition is needed even more when times of stress are high! So, how do we find the delicate balance of healthy eating while constantly being on the go?Read More
Feeling hungry? Eat an avocado!
The Nutrition Journal recently published a study that found adults who added 1/2 of an avocado to their lunch decreased their appetite by 40% for up to 3 hours. If that wasn't enough, these delish fruits are also rich in unsaturated fats and contain the highest amount of protein in any fruit! Great motivation infuse them into your life.Read More

Do you still want to unwind at a party but not feel gross the morning after? My answer, Kava Cocktails! The Polynesians have been drinking this for hundreds of years and your figure out why soon enough. This wonderful beverage has awesome calming effects on the mind and body, some even compare it to Valium but it doesn’t impair your judgement or inhibit clarity!
1. The root of kava kava should be used and ground up into a powder.
2. Add 1teaspoon of powder (for one drink) to a mesh strainer.
3. Add mesh strainer into one cup of COLD water.
4. Gently massage the mesh strainer (inside the water) for 2 minutes (this is to get out all the kavalactones to mix with the water)
Okay, so now time for the fun part. Simply fill up the cup with 3/4 kava and create your own kava cocktail!
The health benefits and combinations are unlimited! Get your daily greens, add some antioxidants, flavor with fruits, sprinkle on some spirulina, add a pinch of bee pollen, and even integrate your oils.

Spirulina is a simple one-celled blue green algae which can be found in many freshwater environments including ponds, lakes, and rivers. This algae is considered one of the most nutritionally complete of all food supplements, containing a rich supply of many important nutrients including:
- Vitamins A,K, and B complex
- Carotenoids (beta carotene: 10 times more than carrots & yellow xanthophylls)
- Fatty & nucleic acids
Spirulina is easily digestable with about 90% of it as useable protein. For comparison, an 8 ounce steak is about 22% protein only 15% of which is usable by the body. So that 8 ounce steak gives only about 1.8 ounces of protein, only .27 ounce (7.6 grams) of which is actually usable protein. Spirulina, however being 70% protein and 90% digestible, provides 5 ounces (140 grams) of usable protein in each 8 ounces. That is 18 times more protein than steak, with little, if any, waste!
Spirulina also stimulates beneficial flora like lactobacillus and bifidobacteria which promote healthy digestion and proper bowel function. Thats not all with wonderful algae does... it also acts as a natural cleanser by removing mercury and other toxins from the body.
Add it in your morning smoothie and fill your body with the nutrients and protein needed to start the day off right!
