Throw out the idea that pumpkins are only useful for Halloween decor or for Thanksgiving pies... they're the best kept secret in skin care!
Pumpkins are loaded with natural exfoliating acids and antioxidants which translates into smoother, brighter, glowing skin! These gorgeous gourds help promote cell turnover, are rich in vitamin E, and provide a good dose of zinc.
1. APPLY THE PULP TO YOUR SKIN
The pulp can be used as a facial mask which can soothe breakouts and decrease fine lines & wrinkles. Besides being rich in vitamin E and zinc, they also contain torulitine which is a powerful combination to decrease inflammation, reduce pore size, and give you that glowing look!
Directions: Simply mix 1/4th cup pumpkin, 1/2 teaspoon of honey, and 1 teaspoon coconut milk. Apply this luscious mask for 20 minutes and rinse.
2. MIX IT INTO YOUR SCRUB FOR ADDED EXFOLIATION
The colder weather can cause the skin to look dry and dull which means it's time to kick up your beauty routine with added moisturizer and exfoliation to keep that summer glow.
Directions: Blend 2 tablespoons of pumpkin with 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt then stir in a 1/2 tablespoon of ground almonds. Gently scrub the skin to soften the dead skin cells for about 1 minute & wash and glow!
3. TONE IT UP
Pumpkin can also be used with your favorite herbal toner! One of my favorite combinations is Calendula, Pumpkin, and Chamomile. Calendula and chamomile are amazing for your skin because they are both antibacterial, soothing, and nourishing. Adding a hint of pumpkin will have your skin looking luminous for the rest of the day.
Directions: Blend 1/2 cup of chamomile tea and 1/2 cup of calendula tea to 1/2 teaspoon of fresh pumpkin. Soak a cotton ball and apply it to your skin and let it dry.
