Osha root (Ligusticum porteri) has been used in Native American medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine for decades for both its spiritual properties and it's medicine uses.
In naturopathic medicine osha root is used as an immune simulator, an expectorant (helps coughs become more productive), and also as an appetite stimulant.
Osha root is often compared with Echinacea for its ability to fight colds because of its antiviral and antibacterial actions along with its ability to relieve inflammation in the bronchial tubes and soothe a sore throat.
Native American tribes burned this root as a purifying incense for protection from evil spirits and dangerous pathogens.
I use a small piece of the osha root underneath my mattress as an energy cleansing technique while I sleep.
